The race though is expected to be a close one between the incumbent President Buhari of APC and the ex. Vice President Atiku Abubakar of PDP, still there has been speculations that Nigeria elections 2023 will witness new players on the scene that might actually be a game changer.

Recently, The Nigerian Elections Debate Group (NEDG) and the Broadcasting Organizations of Nigeria (BON) release the name of the aspirants who will be participating in the Nigeria elections 2023 Vice President and Presidential debates and we see a lot of aspirants names being excluded which marvels the skeptics who feels there has been enough of Buhari news already and that every aspirant should be allowed to participate in such sensitive debate.

Perhaps, that was just a prelude to what might happen in the coming Nigeria elections 2023.

There are still lots of factors though, that will come into play as regarding Nigeria elections 2023.  We will leave you to decide who the poll might favour. But below is just a brief profile of each candidates contesting in the coming presidential election in Nigeria.

1. President Muhammadu Buhari is one of the favored candidate for Nigeria elections 2023

President Buhari still enjoys a lot of support from the Northerners who still bags the highest number of registered voters in Nigeria. No wonder Buhari news is often the trending one. Besides, President Buhari of course still possesses the power of incumbency despite all the criticism about his method of administration and has Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who will also has value in term of Yoruba factors.

President Buhari’s party APC has always leverage on the recklessness of the PDP while in power which many alleged has put the country in bad shape and we can be sure this same accusation will be top of Buhari news in the coming days as part of President Buhari’s strategy to discredit the opposition party.   Also, he has the Npower volunteers across the nation in his arsenal as their fate is seemingly tied to his to get integrated fully into the permanent employment of the Federal Government.

2. Ex. Vice President Atiku Abubakar

Ex. Vice President Atiku understood the political terrain of the country having led the country for eight years in the capacity of Vice President. Also, he’s a all-round business man and he also inherited a giant political wheel from late Yar’Adua which plays in his favour till today. Also, one of the factors to considers in the case of Vice Presidet Atiku is the fact that he’s also a northerner and will definitely split the vote of President Buhari in that region.

In the recent days, we have seen the new trend Buhari news is taking considering the seamless defeat the incumbent president receives in the recent twitter poll. But that is what it is, a mere online poll and the Nigeria electorates knows better that it take more than online poll to defeat the incumbent.

3. Obiageli Ezekwesili

Obiageli Ezekwesili, she’s not new to the Nigeria politics as well. She served as Federal Minister of Solid Minerals and then as Federal Minister of Education during the second-term presidency of Olusegun Obasanjo. She has also worked in leading roles in other important areas of lives. What actually gained Obiageli Ezekwesili more popularity in the recent years might be her ability to use social media to change opinions and gather support. Obiageli Ezekwesili has always given another unpleasant angle to Buhari news especially on the issues of abducted Chibok girls by the Book Haram.

It was her quick wittedness and social media campaign that mounted necessary pressure on the government of Ex. President Goodluck Jonathan and President Buhari which brought the release of some of the abducted girls. We are probably going to see that ace in action in the Nigeria elections 2023. Another factor that might make the poll to favour her aws the fact that she’s an Igbo Woman and also married to a senior pastor in RCCG, one of the largest Christian congregation in Nigeria.

4. Ex. Governor Donald Duke

Donald Duke is also a force to be recon with as far as Nigeria elections 2023 is concerned. He was the former Governor of Cross River State and he records a lot of success during his tenure earning himself the prestige of being the most successful Governor his state ever had. He defeated one of the elder statesmen in Nigeria, Jerry Gana, to clinch his party, SDP, presidential ticket. Although, his chances might not be so bright after all should the court rule in favour of Gana who has since challenge Duke’s victory in the SDP primaries.

5. Eunice Atuejide

unice Atuejide is probably the youngest among the contestant for the office of presidency in the coming Nigeria elections 2023. She benefits from the new bill signed into law by the President Buhari which reduces the age limit set for candidate contesting for the office of the presidency. Eunice, 39years old, hopes to leverage on the population of youths in the country which account for more than 2/3 of the entire electorate to win the presidential election.
